Responsibilities:
Sr Dir Business Development Hospice Responsibilities:
  • Participate with the Executive Director and the Executive Team to create a business development plan. Hire, train and manage the Hospice Care Consultant activities which include: Meeting with appropriate physicians in the service area who influence or make referral decisions to familiarize them with the hospice program of care. Meeting with appropriate physician office staff nurses to familiarize them with the patient characteristics and needs that indicate an appropriate hospice referral. Meeting with appropriate hospital discharge planners and floor nurses to establish a positive referral relationship. Meeting with appropriate long-term care facility administrative and clinical staff to establish a positive referral relationship.
  • Developing opportunities to conduct in-service presentations in physician offices, hospitals, and nursing homes. Coordinating utilization reviews with providers. Hire, train and manage the Referral staff to: Ensure all patient referrals are received and responded to timely and appropriately. Ensure that personnel assignments are made to cover admissions and assessments.
  • Work closely with Clinical Directors and Team Directors to ensure that promised services are provided. Ensure that all data is accurately entered into the computer within agency guidelines. Maintain referral statistics and provide reports monthly to the Executive Director. Communicate with providers, attending physicians, hospice staff and other agencies as needed to ensure excellent provider relations. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Participate in hospice orientation and ongoing education programs. Demonstrate familiarity with policies of the agency and state(s) and federal regulations pertaining to Hospice services. Participate on committees and special projects and other related duties as assigned. Train staff to present in-services. Provide education, leadership and support by accompanying each Hospice Care Consultant in the field for observation and in the Referral office with each staff member.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of Hospice by: Meeting with corporate management from area facilities. Planning and preparing motivational meetings with marketing staff and providing marketing tools to assist them in increasing census. Act as a customer service advocate. Act as role model and mentor for staff.
  • Act as a member of the Executive Team to: Review policy and procedures; Review education process of new employees and staff; Assist in program development.
Qualifications:
Sr Dir Business Development Hospice Qualifications:
  • Has previous experience in hospice, home health, healthcare sales and/or community development.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate an ability to work closely with a variety of people while effectively using problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of referral patterns in the service area. Demonstrate an ability to effectively direct and motivate a professional staff.
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop and present new In-Services.
